Rod hecked up a little
Who: Rod and you
What: Well... you might be here awhile...
Where: At the transport center
When: Tuesday Morning
Warnings: None atm!
[On Tuesday morning, everyone will receive a letter when they wake up, no matter where they're staying for the night. It's neatly typed and just states:
Please meet me at the Transport Center at 10 AM. I have something important to discuss with everyone.
When they arrive at the center, they will find Rod already there, with a box of envelopes. When he speaks, he looks a little sheepish.]
Good morning everyone, I am deeply sorry to say that whatever is wrong with the portals, it's tricky enough that you might be here for awhile. And after an enlightening conversation with Red, we've decided that we should at least make accommodation's for everyone.
As it is providing a lot of stress on Red to provide free food and board daily, we decided that, for the time being, everyone will live in Vista Way for free. It's a nice apartment complex, but if you are unsatisfied with the housing you may move out once you've accumulated enough money.
On that note, that's what this box is for. While you'll be staying here, we thought it would be best to give everyone a job so they would have something to do. We won't be forcing everyone to have a job, and if you're dissatisfied with the job you were given, we can consider giving you a more appropriate job, but having a wage and something to do while we fix the problem might be nice.
I should add that you're starting pay will be around 15 "Disney dollars" an hour, but if that's an unreasonable minimum wage I am willing to increase the wage to something more livable.
Finally, in each envelope with your assigned job, there's also a couple of Magic Cards in here as an apology for the inconvenience. I ask you not to abuse their power, but you can test them as much as you want while you're here using your Magicband.
If you have any questions regarding the situation, I will be happy to answer them.
[He sets the box down, and true to his word, there are envelopes with each guest's name on it, and inside it is your assigned job, starting date, and two different Magic Cards.]

He goes to open his envelope and inspects the cards he was given. Fire and Genie Lamp? Sounds interesting. Curious, he taps the Genie Lamp card against his wristband and--]
MEEP?!
[--now he's hovering slightly off the ground, his bright orange felt turned into a transparent, blueish color. It seems that he's been turned into a ghost. Meeping in a panicked manner, he descends halfway into the ground, failing to stay afloat for very long. This is fine.]

Apartments? Wages? Magic? Disney dollars??? What are these things? He figures out, at least, that the "Magicband" must be what's attached to his paw.
All that aside. He looks at the envelopes. Looks back at Rod. Looks at the envelopes. Looks at the humans around him, with their hands and their ability to read English, finding their names and opening their envelopes and pulling papers out and reading them.]

And what are these cards? Beaker's already forcing himself not to ask Rod as much as he can about how their "magic" must be programmed- because obviously it has to be something technological. But he already knows Rod can't understand him, and it'd be too difficult to try to explain without words.
Wait. Who on earth gave him a card called Demolition Dynamite of all things? With a panicked meep, Beaker holds the card as far away from him as possible, as if afraid it'll react at any moment.]

Right?
He joins the group anyway, and takes his envelope. Inside isn't a picture or some sort of threat, but...two cards and a second letter, this time telling him he now works at something called Joffrey's. That's...convenient. He knows his way around coffee well enough, but it'll be weird working alongside only strangers and not his family.
As for the cards...everyone else is testing theirs, and that doesn't sound like a bad idea. Just gonna tap the flight card against his MagicBand and
immediately shoot several feet in the air.]
Wh-whoa! [Does it always do that, or did it just happen because he's never used it before.] Cool...

The Mayor, maybe, but the map would do for now. He jabs at the map with his fist, doing an unexpected amount of damage.]

So, Count Olaf slams down one of this two cards against his band, and out in front of him walks...
A technicolor pachyderm.
He scoffs, watching it sort of marching around as it plays an equally-pink trumpet.]

Wages? Living here? Man, it's like she's already going off to college.]
...Pizza pace, huh? Not too crazy. It still beats some of the other jobs I've gotten since the Mystery Shack was redone.
[But then there's the matter of the cards. An axe and... a car? She squints at it, looks at the others using their own powers.... it wouldn't hurt, right? She makes sure to hold the card against her wrist...
And a car sure does materialize out of the air beside her.]
Ohoho, man! This is a hundred times better than the things we usually get in envelops!

[Said casually as she leafs through the box, finding her own name quickly enough. The names are all in Japanese under their English versions, which catches her eye, but that's probably not the most important thing right now - something to do with this place, given it's intended for visitors from across space? - so she simply pulls her own out and, stepping back, opens it. Her surprise is visible when she finds the first sheet of paper.]
Photography...? That should be interesting... [She continues to murmur briefly and quietly; ideas about composition and lighting and so on. Her attention is drawn back to the envelope when two cards hit the ground, and automatically, she bends down to pick them up, pausing when she sees the pictures and the text.] Wind? Magic Arrow...?
[This time, when something clicks in her mind, she gasps audibly, before doing everything she can think of to the cards - holding them out in front of her, shaking them, throwing one above her head briefly (before barely catching it), throwing one in front of her and then running after it, calling "Wind!" out loud... Nothing is working, but it looks like she forgot she had an implement. She also doesn't seem to be running out of ideas anytime soon.]

Of course, Wendy's got a car now, and she's just pulling up beside the girl now.]

...Pizza Planet. Great. At least a major vice is covered right off the bat.
[It could be worse. It wasn't as grand as being a librarian but free pizza? Probably? At least she didn't have to make her own to get any. She could be lazy when it comes to that.
Then came the cards. At first, they looked like those collectible cards. But then she watched everyone start experimenting and...A slight concerned face.]
New super human abilities, handed out. Just like that.
[As very suspicious and unsure as she is, she had to get used to her own wares. As much as she didn't trust and almost outright hated the idea. Click on wristband. Said hand with the band suddenly sprouted a magical bow with an arrow, ready to be shot. She grabbed a hold of the bow.]

For all our troubles, housing better be free. and 15$ hourly? I don't even pay my employees minimum wage! [That's. not really something to gloat about but, it's fine. He inspects the cards, flipping them, flicking them, but they look and feel like ordinary paper cards.
He then looks at the magic band around his wrist. it most likely has a use, so maybe...hm. He raises a card near the mouse-shaped image of the magic band, expecting nothing to happen.
Unbeknownst to him, he just activated his Gravity card and hit someone nearby. ]

[Trying to recover from his ghostly incident, Beaker finds himself being picked up and slammed forcefully against the ground (again). which is why evie takes it upon herself to start singing aloud, skirt twirling with her as she throws herself into performance for anyone who will listen, belting out: ) Oh, isn't this amazing? It's my favorite part because you'll seeeeee — Heeeeere's where she meets Prince Charming, but she won't discover that it's him till chapter threeee~
( later, after her performance, it's time to see what these silly little cards of hers do; perhaps you might stumble upon her as she touches her thunder card to her band and a jolt of electricity courses from her wrist — enough to make her gasp, enough to send a small static shock through anyone nearby — even if it's an accident. ) Oh! I'm so sorry!
( the second card evie tries gets a long, hard look before she even thinks about attempting it. happy haunting grounds? that sounds scary — maybe even scarier than her mom without her makeup. finally, though she exhales slowly, closes her eyes, and touches the card to her band. when she opens them, she looks around and sees nothing awry ... until she looks down at herself, however, realizes that she's fading away!
while she appears semi-transparent, she hurries over to the nearest person (creature, perhaps) and practically babbles, frantic, ) Hi — I need your help — I think I did something wrong — can you see me?
do muppets dream of electric meep
[It's not the first, second, or even 50th time Beaker's been electrocuted, but that doesn't make it any more fun. Beaker jumps back with a jolt- a literal one- and squeaks in pain. He's not really hurt- he's certainly taken worse shocks than that- but he wasn't expecting it.]
