[On Tuesday morning, everyone will receive a letter when they wake up, no matter where they're staying for the night. It's neatly typed and just states:

Please meet me at the Transport Center at 10 AM. I have something important to discuss with everyone.

When they arrive at the center, they will find Rod already there, with a box of envelopes. When he speaks, he looks a little sheepish.]

Good morning everyone, I am deeply sorry to say that whatever is wrong with the portals, it's tricky enough that you might be here for awhile. And after an enlightening conversation with Red, we've decided that we should at least make accommodation's for everyone.

As it is providing a lot of stress on Red to provide free food and board daily, we decided that, for the time being, everyone will live in Vista Way for free. It's a nice apartment complex, but if you are unsatisfied with the housing you may move out once you've accumulated enough money.

On that note, that's what this box is for. While you'll be staying here, we thought it would be best to give everyone a job so they would have something to do. We won't be forcing everyone to have a job, and if you're dissatisfied with the job you were given, we can consider giving you a more appropriate job, but having a wage and something to do while we fix the problem might be nice.

I should add that you're starting pay will be around 15 "Disney dollars" an hour, but if that's an unreasonable minimum wage I am willing to increase the wage to something more livable.

Finally, in each envelope with your assigned job, there's also a couple of Magic Cards in here as an apology for the inconvenience. I ask you not to abuse their power, but you can test them as much as you want while you're here using your Magicband.

[He sets the box down, and true to his word, there are envelopes with each guest's name on it, and inside it is your assigned job, starting date, and two different Magic Cards.]

Mm, dependent on subject matter? Can't say it's my first choice of pastime, but it's certainly been a great help more than once.

[Even though he's back on his own two feet, Belle does him the favor of crouching down, the better to speak to him. It's rude to try and hold a conversation from such an imperious height, after all!]

Most definitely the former. I come from a very small village, you see, and books...proved to be a very good escape to the outside world.

The former were much easier to come by. Pére Robert, our priest, was the one who procured all the books I've read, so I was limited to what he could find. But I'd read just about anything, so long as it had literary or scientific merit.

Any notion if this place specializes? The name's a bit odd.

I couldn't say, but from the name alone...it almost sounds like a shop specializing in books about different cultures.

[ Noncommittal hum in response. Basil suspects he'll find the job dull--which for once in his life would be welcome, yes, but. Well, bit of a contradiction to be "excited" about a lack of excitement. ]

Which round were you in, by the by? I don't believe we ever did speak much.

[She blinks at him several times before she catches his meaning, and shakes her head.]

...An alternate or a clone? Did you know each other?

[ Between Freddie's nonchalance on being presented with a second version of her own father and Allene's insistence that cloning wasn't a big deal, Basil's now assuming this sort of mix-up must just be ~one of those things~ that happens on occasion. ]

Well...an alternate, I suppose. I hadn't heard anything about all this...murder business until I came here, and discovered that people knew me that I'd never seen in my life.

[It's incredibly awkward, and Belle still doesn't really know how to feel about it, truth be told.]

Monsieur Rod explained it as an 'alternate universe' version.

For the best, really--one less thing for the both of you to be dealing with. The other one gets a break from this nonsense; and you needn't be dealing with... [ trauma ] ...all that.

As I understand it, this sort of thing isn't uncommon. I wouldn't worry over it. [ Basil, literally no one asked you, shush. ]
