Intro Log

Who: Everyone!
What: Your first magical day
Where: Progress City Tranport Center
When: Right now
Warnings: None planned!

[Today you found a ticket to a theme park. It seems relatively normal, except that it reads: Lifetime Parkhopper Pass to Progress City. ”The Most Magical Pocket Dimension in the Multiverse!” This is not a theme park you have ever heard of, if you live in a world where theme parks are of the norm.

For some reason you’re drawn to the ticket. There’s something… magical in this piece of paper, and you can practically hear it calling out to you, and you feel compelled to pick it up. It’s strange, but it’s a piece of paper, what’s the worst that could happen?

However, the moment you pick it up, you feel yourself being pulled. There is nothing pulling you but there is an overwhelming sensation that something is pulling you by the chest into the ground. You don’t have time to process what’s going on before you suddenly fall over, the strange feeling going away the moment you hit the ground.

It takes a few moments for you to regain your bearings, but as you look up you are suddenly hit with the fact that, wherever you were before, you certainly aren’t there anymore. It appears to be a transport station of some sort, and a very sleek and new one at that. Monorails pass by the station every couple of minutes, with small, slower moving vehicles consistently move in and out of the center.

The innermost wall, right behind where you stand, is lined with portals. It appears that you came in through this portal, but if you try to go back the way you came in, you’ll find that you are unable to enter it, no matter how hard you try.

While the realization that you are now trapped in this strange place, you will soon find that you also have a strange band strapped to your dominant wrist. No matter how hard you try to take it off, it seems like it’s stuck on there.

At least you’re not alone, along with a bunch of other people who arrived around the same time you did, there are humanoid people who seemed to be intrigued by your arrival. They’re all generally nice, but get confused if you ask them why you’re here and why you can’t leave. They will, however, happily tell you the name of the place you’re in if you ask:

Progress City.]

Having fun there?

[just sorta standing by with her arms crossed, watching her.]

Oh. Oh! Fire! Got it, that makes sense. [Sort of. She guesses she can see how it would look like a flower.] No, electricity is something different. It's not going to burn anything.

...Well, unless you touch it after it's been on for a while. But you don't have to worry about that with street lamps.
hallotween: (I'll see the veins of my city)

[personal profile] hallotween 2018-04-01 06:23 pm (UTC)(link)
[SIGHS a little dramatically]

You're gonna be that kind of grown-up, huh?
lusito: (get on their way to their nests the west)

[personal profile] lusito 2018-04-01 06:24 pm (UTC)(link)
So how long do you think it will take before someone commits a murder here?

[... Hey Tadashi, guess who else is here.]
not_over_yet: (I don't know what you want from me!)

[personal profile] not_over_yet 2018-04-01 06:25 pm (UTC)(link)
[ .....oh, right, he should have.... expected this and not been ok with it, probably,,, ]

Er, I should. Likely discourage removing your hand. Not immediately, at any rate.

[ THAT WAS VAGUELY MORE RESPONSIBLE MAYBE?? ]

...At a minimum we ought to locate a proper blade first.

[ HE'S GOOD AT THIS ]
hallotween: (making smart with their words again)

[personal profile] hallotween 2018-04-01 06:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Kinda! [SLAM] It's like old times! [SLAM] But, my shoulder also really, really hurts right now! [SLAM]

Yes, I'm sure they'll listen to you and immediately put you in charge of operations here, after you've spent a total of 3 whole minutes in the city.

[Hi Sheldon, you've got a peanut gallery consisting of one[1] whole panther sprawled out on a nearby bench, who is watching your indignant tirade with something close to glee.]

[personal profile] derring_do 2018-04-01 06:27 pm (UTC)(link)
...Am I that kind of grown-up? [oh god would younger her absolutely hate current her. she has to re-evaluate some things.]

Right. Sorry. Uh, Don and I aren't really around kids a lot. Mostly just old people. Boring old people. [and at least Scrooge isn't around to hear her slandering him like this.]

So how about... punching things can solve a lot of things, but not everything. So maybe we shouldn't punch all the time. Is that better?
lusito: (two and a half gays)

[personal profile] lusito 2018-04-01 06:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Maybe it's not opening because you're not throwing yourself at it hard enough?

[Josh, no...]
faciliheir: (us and our shadows)

[personal profile] faciliheir 2018-04-01 06:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Ugh, it's probably some magic junk, anyway. I'll cut it off and then it'll just reappear, farther down my arm.

[ugh. she hates this already.]

You seen any of the usual suspects around? If Randy got off whatever child leash Kim keeps him on...

[Okay. Talking panther. This is nothing new in Belle's life, but she doesn't quite expect it just yet.

She chews her lip for a moment, trying to think of the best way to phrase this, to try and keep him...as calm as she can.]

I'm not sure about the why, but it seems we've all been brought here by those pieces of paper, somehow. They say this place is called...'Progress City.' I admit, I'm just as confused as you are.
evilette: ( footlights | DNT ) (♕ gonna start from scratch)

[personal profile] evilette 2018-04-01 06:34 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't like the sound of that at all. ( and it shows in her face, the furrowed brow, the way she averts her gaze for a moment as though to try hiding her emotions.

if her mom's involved in this somehow, she's going to be so mad if any worry lines show up on her forehead. )

We've got to stick together.

[Belle purses her lips, slowly shakes her head. She feels bad for this girl, because she's obviously...confused, or mistaken.

Or is she the one who's confused?]

I'm very sorry.
drawntodream: (I am unsure...)

[It's early in the morning, and Yui is trying to puzzle out the piece of paper on her desk. It's... a ticket? She's dressed to head out to class, but she just doesn't recognize it. It's pretty small, and it's for-

-wait, what's that pulling sensation? Immediately she wants to recoil from the ticket, but when she's getting takes toward her carpeted floor, that's difficult. Still, she's relaxing a tiny bit, given she's not getting pulled into a cage again. That's a different feeling. So then, it's not her heart, it's actually her being stolen-

-when she hits the ground, ticket clenched in one hand and bag clattering to the ground next to her, her first emotion is confusion. It's carpet, but nothing should make a noise when it hits? That's when she realizes her hand isn't touching carpet anymore. Whatever it is - feels like stone - it isn't soft. That's what finally gets her to look up and try to figure out where she is. And for a moment, laying face down in the Transport Center, she can only blink.

The moment doesn't last long, as instinct honed from six months of helping Haruka chase monsters kicks in, and she starts to analyze. Of course, that doesn't get her very far either, and after a moment, shifting to sit upright, she sighs, realizing this won't just be something easy.]

It never can be easy with magic, can it? Something goes wrong, something chooses, something needs help... This is the part where the fairies show up, right?

[Some time later, having dusted herself off, she starts to wander around the hall, looking for clues in the limited ways she knows how. She's... not overly cheery, but she's not losing herself in despair. She knows what despair feels like, and she's not even close. No, she's just resolute. She'll make it, one way or another.]

Or something-

[Wait, hold on, her wheels need to turn too. "Star's mom" versus "the Butterfly family" implies closeness she wasn't prepared for.]

Oh, you know my great-grand-Star?
allknowledgegoodknowledge: (Mind erasing! Pew pew!)

[personal profile] allknowledgegoodknowledge 2018-04-01 06:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, the seats are surprisingly tasteful, all things considered.

[Though he scowls to himself as he turns around, Sheldon at least attempts to keep his tone cool when he addresses said peanut gallery. He went to college, he won't be talked down to like this. Much less by a naked land mammal.]

Right. And what do you know about taking over? Maybe they've been waiting for someone as skilled as me to get this place on-track.

A:

[It was another day, another painfully dull and long class in which a crotchety old grant guzzler of a professor went on and on about his novel. Though today was special, as she just turned in a short story for Raft College community paper. It had been about a month since she last said her farewells to a place that she held close to her cold heart. It wasn't her home, it was her second home. Said second home's magic seemed to wear off and now she could remember it. How was that for spite? Well, she'd consider it spite, even if unintentional.

But she was at her home now, content on moving on.

Remember them and-wait what's this?

As she left the publishing studio, she felt something in her skirt pocket. Thinking maybe it was a dollar bill, she grabbed it.

Then she stood right there, at the gates of her new NEW home. Staring blankly at it and the world in front of her. She had no real expression, none at all. Was it shock? Who would know. But she literally stood there, zoning out, looking at her bracelet, before she made the heaviest sigh her lungs could muster.]

...Crap. Here we go again.

[That was it. That was ALL she could say.]

B:

[After the shock of getting basically kidnapped wore off, Daria found herself wandering around. She was diligently writing stuff in her notebook. Was she looking your way and writing stuff down? Trust her, it wasn't intentional. Daria, in actuality, was taking notes on all of the stuff she witnessed so far. The buildings, the advertisements, the housing, etc.

She had to make the most of it all if she was forced to live here. But it was likely that she was also focused enough in her own thoughts that she could've been writing stuff and she would bump into some poor soul. If that happened...Gah.]

...Oops. Uh, sorry about that.
tadaishi: (uh what?)

[personal profile] tadaishi 2018-04-01 06:47 pm (UTC)(link)
[That sentence tells him a lot--that this is the Joshua he knows, the one who remembers what's happened in the last year...and who apparently has the same thoughts about the situation Tadashi and Wendy do. Silver lining.

Josh doesn't get a hug for this reunion, but Tadashi is very happy to see him nonetheless.]

I'm hoping for 'never', but it's usually about two weeks before someone cracks. I thought the games had stopped...?
beakie: (meemeep?)

[personal profile] beakie 2018-04-01 06:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Evie! Meemiimeep meemoo! [Nice to meet you, too! At least he's able to parrot certain words. He continues to meep as he shakes her hand--his hand feels like soft fleece.]

Meemiimeep meemoo meep? Mee miimeep meemoo meep meemii meep. Meep...miimeemoo meep meep moo meemoo meep?

[She had found a ticket? Beaker had picked up a ticket, too. But...that couldn't be the only reason why they had been sent here, could it? It wouldn't make sense, scientifically speaking.

Beaker tentatively glances towards the monorails, scratching the side of his head.]
Meep meemoo meemii meep...meep meemii.

[For some reason, this place seems awfully familiar...although he knows he's never been here.]

You know, judging by how many times you've tried and failed, I really don't think that portal's gonna let you through.

[just saying]

[Wendy may have had the fortune, or misfortune (depending how she saw it), to be next to another girl who seemed to be an another state of "ugh". Though she wasn't near as expressive. Nor was she really a grand conversationalist, and just seemed to respond merely because it happened to be in her ear shot.]

Or maybe we're the puppies and we got kicked by really dirty shoes.

No fairies here, kid. At least none that I know of.

[Instead you're getting a really dedicated LARPer.]

Oh? So then, what is electricity? How does it work? And how did man come to learn how to use it?
