EVENT LOG PT. 1: The Fourth of July Masquerade Ball
Who: Everyone!
What: John Progress hosts a Fourth of July Ball.
Where: The Adventurer's Club.
When: Fourth of July!
Warnings: Patriotism.
Whew boy, it's the hottest Fourth in July we've had in years! Thankfully, the local nuclear family, The Progresses, are happy to host the annual Fourth of July Ball. Formal dress, patriotic wear, and straight-up costumes are all encouraged. In fact, you'll find the host wandering around in his own George Washington outfit - in fact, it seems as though everyone has turned up for this event! Anyone who's anyone is here, and this could be a good opportunity for you to connect!
...Of course, food and drink are provided. While it might be a little bit too classy for some's taste, there's a barbecue happening outside just in case you need to get away from the stuffiness for a little bit. Generally, it seems as though everyone here is friendly enough, even if the party is a little too classy.
It all seems to be going pretty well, and seems as though you finally have a pretty decent day on your hands...though, those ink splotches you occasionally see on the ground are a little weird.
[Welcome to Progress City's Fourth of July event! We're gradually going to be tagging in to the log with every NPC we've introduced thus far, and plenty that we haven't introduced quite yet! Feel free to set up your own toplevels and tag out, of course - the second part of the event log will be going up on July 10th!]

So. You come here often?
[...Nailed it]

[It sounds like a bad pickup line, Stan.]

[He gives Stan a good glance over, expression cold as ever.]
It's a bit...much for my tastes.
no subject
[On a second thought, maybe that's not very welcoming for the Adventurer's Club newcomers. Stan rethinks his choices]
Hah, just messin' with ya! But really, it's mostly a bunch of shows, nothing too formal on most days.
no subject
[He's not letting that one go so easily.]
You mean aliens or something?
no subject
There's also lots of barbecue sauce on it.]
They should put this red sauce on everything!
no subject
Looks like you already did.
no subject
A+ for partying effort.
no subject
Thanks. [There's something of a smirk.] I see you went all out too.
no subject
[There it is.]
I at least got physically dragged here, what's your excuse?
no subject
[You'll never be dragged to a party again.]
I'm here for the food.
[Completely shameless.]
no subject
[Which was mostly true. But there was some kind of security knowing Snake was around too. Someone she didn't dislike was always a plus. So perhaps it was as good enough of an opportunity to share more thoughts about it. After all, it felt like they were on the same page. So...why not?]
But even that's hard, this doesn't feel like a good environment for any real wild time.
no subject
[He wasn't a particularly social type to begin with, and coupled with his complete lack of patriotism, he wasn't expecting to enjoy himself much.]
Seems every time I think of leaving something else comes up.
[No offense.]

Or someone, right?

He hasn't really seen Snake around much before- he knows he helped that panther he never met with trying to get elected for mayor, but that's about all. Beaker tries to stay out of Snake's way- the guy looks pretty intimidating- but winds up bumping into him by accident on the way to the snack table. He backs away, meeping apologetically.]
no subject
Either way, it signals one of the few people Snake finds himself enjoying the company of here.]
Hey.
[A friendly greeting, for him. He gets up from leaning on the snack table to allow his little puppet friend access to it.]
Nice suit.
no subject
Mii-muhmeep mi meepmi muh-meep mini-mimi-muhmi meep mi muhmimi.
[Thank you- it took a while to find a suit in his size at the store, but he likes it.
Cue awkward silence as Beaker picks at the available snacks and has no idea what to say to this complete stranger.]
no subject
[Heh. He takes a sip of punch in the silence as his pun goes unappreciated.]
Your, uh, partner like it?
no subject
Beaker nearly chokes on a cracker at the word "partner"; sure, he doesn't exactly make an effort to hide the fact that he's absurdly gay, but-]
M-M-Meepmimuh-meep? mimi-mimi muh meep?
[P-partner? What- what partner?
As far as this Beaker knows, his crush on Bunsen is still reciprocated.]
no subject
Hrnh...the scientist, wasn't it?
[They bonded over Their Type, it's not something he was about to forget.]
no subject
M-m-meep mimuh-meep mi minimuh-meep-muh, meep mi meep-muh muh meepmimimimuh-meep muh meep.
[He... may be attracted to a scientist, yes, but they're not. Dating. And it's probably not reciprocated. Probably.]
no subject
[He gives Beaker a puzzled look.]
...I was looking forward to meeting him.
