Intro Log
Who: Everyone!
What: Your first magical day
Where: Progress City Tranport Center
When: Right now
Warnings: None planned!
[Today you found a ticket to a theme park. It seems relatively normal, except that it reads: Lifetime Parkhopper Pass to Progress City. ”The Most Magical Pocket Dimension in the Multiverse!” This is not a theme park you have ever heard of, if you live in a world where theme parks are of the norm.
For some reason you’re drawn to the ticket. There’s something… magical in this piece of paper, and you can practically hear it calling out to you, and you feel compelled to pick it up. It’s strange, but it’s a piece of paper, what’s the worst that could happen?
However, the moment you pick it up, you feel yourself being pulled. There is nothing pulling you but there is an overwhelming sensation that something is pulling you by the chest into the ground. You don’t have time to process what’s going on before you suddenly fall over, the strange feeling going away the moment you hit the ground.
It takes a few moments for you to regain your bearings, but as you look up you are suddenly hit with the fact that, wherever you were before, you certainly aren’t there anymore. It appears to be a transport station of some sort, and a very sleek and new one at that. Monorails pass by the station every couple of minutes, with small, slower moving vehicles consistently move in and out of the center.
The innermost wall, right behind where you stand, is lined with portals. It appears that you came in through this portal, but if you try to go back the way you came in, you’ll find that you are unable to enter it, no matter how hard you try.
While the realization that you are now trapped in this strange place, you will soon find that you also have a strange band strapped to your dominant wrist. No matter how hard you try to take it off, it seems like it’s stuck on there.
At least you’re not alone, along with a bunch of other people who arrived around the same time you did, there are humanoid people who seemed to be intrigued by your arrival. They’re all generally nice, but get confused if you ask them why you’re here and why you can’t leave. They will, however, happily tell you the name of the place you’re in if you ask:
Progress City.]

[Beaker practically leaps a foot into the air when he's touched. Sorry about your eardrums, Evie. He starts rambling on about portals, and a ticket, and wanting to go home--]
Meep meemiimeep meemoo meep meemiimeep meep meemoo meep mii meep meemoomeep! Meep meemiimeep meemoo meep meep--
[Why does this sort of stuff always happen to him? The more he speaks, the faster and more panicked his tone of voice becomes. It'll be a miracle if she stranger can even understand what he's saying.]
no subject
at least she can see his face now, popped out of the collared shirt he'd been hiding within.
get it together, evie. you're the king's royal advisor. with a self-calming exhale, she kneels down in front of him to get on his level, try again: ) Hey, hey, you have to go a little slower. Let's start at the beginning. Where did you come from?
no subject
Meep...meep meemii meep meemoo. Meep, meemiimeep meep, meep meemii...Meemiimeep?
[He...came from that portal. Well, before that, he was in an interdimensional city called...Nautilus? He doesn't think that she's heard of it before, what it being a city inhabited by the subconscious or whatever.]
Meep! Mii Beaker. [He points to himself, then gestures towards Evie.] Meep moo meep? [What's your name?]
no subject
I'm Evie. ( she responds with a slow smile sneaking onto her face, effortless and beautiful. as an official resident of auradon, now, she finds it necessary to show off her good manners (fairy godmother would be so proud) and extend a dainty hand to shake his. ) It's nice to meet you, Beaker.
I'm sorry I've never heard of your kingdom before. There was a ticket slipped into my notebook that I'd never seen before and when I picked it up — well, I guess I came through one of those portals over there.
no subject
Meemiimeep meemoo meep? Mee miimeep meemoo meep meemii meep. Meep...miimeemoo meep meep moo meemoo meep?
[She had found a ticket? Beaker had picked up a ticket, too. But...that couldn't be the only reason why they had been sent here, could it? It wouldn't make sense, scientifically speaking.
Beaker tentatively glances towards the monorails, scratching the side of his head.] Meep meemoo meemii meep...meep meemii.
[For some reason, this place seems awfully familiar...although he knows he's never been here.]
no subject
instead, she simply nods as he explains, following his gaze up towards the strange, sleek-looking trains overhead. )
Familiar how?
no subject
[muppets are the worst]Meep...meemiimeep meemoo. Meep meemiimeep meemoo, meep meemiimeep? [He's...well, he's sort of seen these trains before at Disney World? He thinks? He pauses.'Seen' is a sort of a misleading term because he spent most of his time wandering around with a bucket stuck over his head. But Bunsen had definitely described the mechanics of the monorails in depth and had dragged him onto the train.]
Meemiimeep meemoo, meep?
[Has she been to Disney World before?]
no subject
muppets are kind of the worstbut evie doesn't judge, regardless of how strange this meeping creature might be; beaker certainly seems to be Good underneath all of his confusion and fear, which she relates to."disney" is a word that somehow, she feels like she should know — and yet ... nothing. her lips purse, a slight frown appearing at the corners of her mouth. )
No, I haven't. It's a world? Is it like — a planet?
( space, science, she can deal with. anything past it may get dicey. )
no subject
Nuh-uh. Meep meemiimeep meemoo--moomeemii meep moo meemoo moo mii meep meep? Meemii?
[Nope. It's an amusement park--probably the most famous one in the world? She hasn't heard of it?
Then Beaker glances back at the portals and something clicks. Back in Nautilus, they had people who didn't know anything about...well, anything, really. It could be that Evie was from some other dimension in which Disney doesn't exist? That sounds terrible.]
Meemiimeep. Meemoo meep meemii meep meemoomeep?
[...Nevermind. What does Evie do for fun back at home?]
no subject
in the meantime, the thought of an amusement park sounds so exciting that evie can hardly fathom it, and finds herself upset that they don't have this — disney world back in auradon. on the isle? sure, she could understand that. certainly the people of auradon would want their kids to go to the most famous amusement park in the world, though, right?
beaker decides to drop the subject though, and she nods instead. )
Well, Beaker, I go to school at Auradon Prep so that takes up a lot of my time — but I like hanging out with my friends a lot, and I design and make clothes in my spare time. Oh, and advise the King. That's something I'm really proud of! ( and she beams, brightly as ever. )
no subject
Wait, hang on--a king?!]
Meep?! Meep--meep...miimeep meeoo meep meemii! Meemiimeep meemoo meep meemii meep moo--mee miimee meep meemiimeep. Meemiimeep meemoo meep meemii?
[Well--that's...very impressive! Beaker can't say the same about his own job--he's just a lab assistant. Now how did she get that position?]
no subject
I go to school with the King — we're really good friends.
( which is true. she's particularly interested by what beaker says, though. )
But I think your job is very impressive, Beaker! What kind of lab do you work at? I love science.
no subject
Meemiimeep meemoo meep meemii--meep meemoo meep Meemiimoo.
[What a strange place--he'd like to learn a little more about Auradon.]
Mee? Meep meemiimeep meemoo Meepet Meep, meemiimeep...meep, meemiimeep meemii meep meemoo meep.
[Him? Well, for a while he worked at Muppet Labs, but...recently, he's been sort of doing whatever he can. He's been living--well, not really living--existing in another city for a few months, and has been working with a few new friends. He mostly works on inventing useful things, like automatic pumpkin carvers and stuff.]
no subject
But more importantly —
( no, seriously. evie is unironically invested in beaker's muppet lab endeavors, as someone with a newfound affinity for science and chemistry and all sorts of things like that. )
Automatic pumpkin carvers — huh! What types of things do you carve into the pumpkins? I bet you've come up with things that are really wicked.
no subject
Meemiimeep meemoo meep! Meep meemii meep meemoomeep, meep meemiimeep!
[Well, they can make just about anything! The default setting is the classic pumpkin face, with triangle eyes and a toothed smile, but by uploading custom images, they can carve just about anything! He once carved his coworker's face onto a nice green pumpkin.
He probably shouldn't mention that he accidentally carved his own head once. Like, his hair turned green like a pumpkin stem and everything.]
