[Today you found a ticket to a theme park. It seems relatively normal, except that it reads: Lifetime Parkhopper Pass to Progress City. ”The Most Magical Pocket Dimension in the Multiverse!” This is not a theme park you have ever heard of, if you live in a world where theme parks are of the norm.

For some reason you’re drawn to the ticket. There’s something… magical in this piece of paper, and you can practically hear it calling out to you, and you feel compelled to pick it up. It’s strange, but it’s a piece of paper, what’s the worst that could happen?

However, the moment you pick it up, you feel yourself being pulled. There is nothing pulling you but there is an overwhelming sensation that something is pulling you by the chest into the ground. You don’t have time to process what’s going on before you suddenly fall over, the strange feeling going away the moment you hit the ground.

It takes a few moments for you to regain your bearings, but as you look up you are suddenly hit with the fact that, wherever you were before, you certainly aren’t there anymore. It appears to be a transport station of some sort, and a very sleek and new one at that. Monorails pass by the station every couple of minutes, with small, slower moving vehicles consistently move in and out of the center.

The innermost wall, right behind where you stand, is lined with portals. It appears that you came in through this portal, but if you try to go back the way you came in, you’ll find that you are unable to enter it, no matter how hard you try.

While the realization that you are now trapped in this strange place, you will soon find that you also have a strange band strapped to your dominant wrist. No matter how hard you try to take it off, it seems like it’s stuck on there.

At least you’re not alone, along with a bunch of other people who arrived around the same time you did, there are humanoid people who seemed to be intrigued by your arrival. They’re all generally nice, but get confused if you ask them why you’re here and why you can’t leave. They will, however, happily tell you the name of the place you’re in if you ask:

Progress City.]

[weird portals? fine. whatever. she's had worse. suddenly not where she was five minutes ago? whatever. fine. she's already glanced around and noticed the Two Whole People (c) she gives a damn about are nearby and looking just as confused. none of this is a big deal.

at first she looks for the way to unclip it. when there isn't one, she tries to rip it off. when that doesn't work, she just kinda. loses one of her few remaining scraps of patience and dignity and is just. trying to gnaw the sucker off. briefly considering if she really needs two whole hands.]

If it's at all similar to mine, that's not going to work. These bracelets don't respond to rodent teeth--and I do believe yours may be a bit duller.

[ Sup. Mouse-dad's still at the bemused stage, clearly not as put out about their unexpected arrival as he ought to be. ]

Can you play a guitar with a robot hand? Asking for a friend. [shut up dad she can do this]

I suppose it would depend on the quality of craftsmanship...

Er, I should. Likely discourage removing your hand. Not immediately, at any rate.

...At a minimum we ought to locate a proper blade first.

Ugh, it's probably some magic junk, anyway. I'll cut it off and then it'll just reappear, farther down my arm.

[ugh. she hates this already.]

You seen any of the usual suspects around? If Randy got off whatever child leash Kim keeps him on...

Hm, also a point to consider.

Quite the crowd about, isn't there. Most of them seem. ok with this... [ Are they locals? ] ...This is. a lot more people than Randy managed to collect before...

[ Do you find that worrying, because Basil finds that worrying. He doesn't want to deal with a Randy who's managed to find some kind of power boost, the regular Randy was bad enough. ]

Some of the people who don't seem okay are strangers, too. [strangers to them, she means.] They haven't mixed up new people and old people before. That'd be new.

And we've a far more open area to work with... whatever this is, it's certainly a different spin--dear god, how many people have this hobby?! [ The hobby in question being interdimensional mass kidnappings, obviously. ] It really oughtn't to be this common an occurrence.

...Which sort? Anyone you've particular opinions on?

There's Evie-- she's probably the most "normal" of all us VKs 'cause her mom got banished by Maleficent and she had to raise her away from everyone else. She's a pretty good friend. I think you'll be overwhelmed by her everything, but ultimately like her. [since that's basically how she feels.]

There's also... Audrey. Auradonian kid. Daughter to the heroes of Maleficent's story. Doesn't treat any of us particularly nice-- what Auradonian does-- but I've got a feeling this place will push her off any pedestal real quick.

[ Basil listens attentively, picking out and filing away the more important bits. ]

Ways to recognize either, short of introductions? Distinguishing features, that sort of thing.

Evie is really pretty-- I mean, to the point where it's distracting, trust me-- and has blue hair. Audrey looks like she's better than everybody around her. Probably wearing pink. Princesses.

[He turns his back for a bit to try it out.

Well. Stan doesn't really know what he expected. There's a low, pained hiss before he turns to the kid again, hand out of sight.]

Didn't work out. Took like a second before it jumped back, I think. Wouldn't be too far of a stretch to say it wouldn't work if you try cuttin' anything off.
