EVENT END: The New Mayor
Who: Everyone!
What: The end of the election event
Where: Park in Aqua District
When: 5/6.
Warnings: The new mayor, for one thing.
[On Sunday morning, everyone will wake up to a new card of their choice, along with a note asking everyone to meet in the park at noon for the announcement of the new mayor.
At noon, Rod shows up on the stage, looking somehow more exhausted than the day he broke down.]
Before we announce the new mayor, I want to make a few announcements.
First of all, Red and I have decided to start a city council, and we’ll be able to accept or reject law according to the suitability and reasonability of them. This applies to me as well.
Second of all, in the event that any mayor who isn’t a native manages to leave the city, I will become the temporary mayor again and, in the event that we have time, hold another debate and election as soon as possible.
Lastly, no matter who is elected mayor, they will not obtain the means to alter or control this pocket dimension, so I am still technically the owner of it. This is because both objects are insanely powerful, and we need something more than a mere vote to decide on who gets them. You may think it’s unfair, but I know first hand that its magic is horrifying in the wrong hands.
[He sighs, before he continues.]
Due to the nature of my announcements, you have probably already guessed that I am not the mayor anymore. I cannot say that I personally agree with who you voted for, but I promised myself I wouldn’t be a dictator, and I certainly hope the new mayor will honor it and try to uphold our moral code.
And so… I would like to welcome our new Mayor…. [he weakly gestures.] Sheldon J. Plankton.

[but also he has no idea what mayors actually do.]
Anyways I'm gonna need a definition on this whole "moral code" thing.

No messing with the mayoral election so that you always win, no creating laws that serve only yourself, no creating laws that serve only yourself and those who follow you, politically or otherwise, no threatening people who didn't vote for you, no locking up opposing candidates, and no murdering anyone for any reason.

Mmhmm. I see. And where does 'eliminating Dole Whip' fall in regards to those rules?
no subject
Dole Whip is one of the most popular snack items in the park, why would you want to eliminate it?

We're not shutting down anything for being "too popular", especially with the summer seasons upon us.

What kind of laws can I pass?

“Bettering the city” is highly subjective, former mayor.

Congratulations! It was a surprisingly tough field, but you made it in the end. I'm happy for you!
So, what now, Mr. Mayor?

[Or. They will be. Once he thinks of any.]

Didn't you just ask to shut down an ice cream stand and then asked to steal my home?
no subject
What part of those demands wasn't reasonable, Rod.
