EVENT LOG: Debate Time!

What: Progress City's first Mayoral Debate.
Where: Park in Aqua District.

[Alright, impromptu election. Got it.

Bill takes on the liberties of organizing a debate, making sure to space it out a couple days to give the candidates some time to prepare. The park in the pink district is chosen as a venue, given the relatively decent weather, and a large stage is constructed in the middle of it. There are a number of podiums set up for the candidates, a table and microphone down in front for debate moderators and those simply wanting to ask questions, and a good number of chairs for those wanting to see a living and breathing dumpster fire.

The whole thing is catered by Joffrey's, too, so at least you have free coffee to get you through the death of Progress City's sanity as we know it.]

"Jerry Mander" can finally graduate kindergarten, maybe.

[Still though, as Belle's manager, she should...probably ask all of the important questions in regards to the actual race. Personal feelings aside, what happened here was important.]

[Belle's not entirely certain what a kindergarten is, but she can piece together the German enough to catch her meaning.]

One can only hope.

[She presses her lips together, and then nods.]

I think so, yes. It certainly could have gone much worse. I can't shake the feeling that there are people here who are...suspicious of me, for some reason.

[Yeah...she gathered that. She was glad that Belle was observant about that, but what it meant going forward was crucial.]

Yeah, I saw. I'm guessing you don't know them personally either, right?

No, aside from having met Freddie once, while I was here. I can't help but think it has something to do with this...other 'me' people keep bringing up.

[She worries at her lip thoughtfully.]

What if she...did something terrible, that I don't know about?

But this was a serious problem. Belle was intent on listening, and seemed to look to Daria for any kind of help or advice. Anything.

She looked in her own coffee cup for inspiration. Come on words.]

You might think this is crazy but I understand it. I've seen it. Unfortunately, you can't speak for that other person.

[She nods.] There are quite a few people here who knew here. Including Rod himself.

[Belle's fingers wring together above her little stack of notecards, but Daria's words seem to prove comforting, at least.]

That's true. I can only do what I think is right...it won't do me much good to worry over something I can't control.

[Just then, Daria handed Belle a note. On the paper, there were a list of topics. Topics such as pay, wage equality no matter the gender, etc. On the top of the page, the title was underlined.

Important Political Points, Prepare to Answer]

So work on what you can. You can only put your honest self forward, that's your job.

[Belle takes the paper, studying over the topics, and when she looks back up at Daria, it's with grateful relief.]
