keyofimagination: (FINALLY AFTER ALL THESE YEARS)

Event log END: Plankton tried and failed

[It’s over. The Dreamfinder is saved. The Plankton Gremlins are gone, and everything is back to normal.

Well, mostly.

The very next morning, everyone who participated in the festival/saving the festival will once again wake up with a brand new card and an invitation for an emergency meeting.

Once again Rod is there, and once again he looks tired but he stands up straight once a crowd gathers.]

Good morning everyone, due to recent events Red and I had an emergency meeting on the state of affairs. I know this may be rash, and it might not be a popular opinion since he’s only been mayor for a month. However, between kidnapping someone that i consider a friend and important asset to the town and letting loose gremlins on Epcot, we have no choice but to impeach Plankton, effective immediately. I am aware that this is usually the kind of decision one needs to vote for, but after all Plankton’s done after a month, along as never attending a single actual meeting, as the creator of this realm I believe I am perfectly justified in my decision.

We plan on holding another election in the near future, as I don’t want to keep status quo just because of one bad mayor. However, for the time being I will resume the role as the mayor, and I will happily listen to any remarks or criticisms anyone has about this scenario or about how we should run this place.

[OOC: Event end! As mentioned we will intend on holding another election in the future, but it will be a smaller event than the first election and it probably won't be the only monthly event in that case. If we left you out of the list or if you got a double please let us know and we’ll fix it right away!]

Have you even met this other Rod Serling? [ Because if not... ]
hallotween: (I put a spell on you)

[personal profile] hallotween 2018-06-06 01:32 am (UTC)(link)
As a completely normal child before this, no, I did not regularly meet celebrities that died twenty years before I was born.

Your assurance that the original would behave neither precisely the same nor worse is baseless at best.

Do you have the slightest idea how many people believe me to be someone they'd want in their vicinity? The number rather tends to drop should we ever truly interact. [ Like, y'know. this. ]
hallotween: (so many different people to be)

[personal profile] hallotween 2018-06-06 02:53 am (UTC)(link)
No one wants to hang out with Holmes, that's why he only has the one friend [BUT NO SHE'S DISCOURSING ABOUT ANOTHER FANDOM RN]

I feel pretty sure absolutely normal human Rod Serling wouldn't ruin dozens of people's lives over a dumb ex-boyfriend. That is not a thing that would have happened in real life.

[ ...Um. Ok, it sounds like she's gotten his overall point, but... ]

...How do you know that name? That's one of the humans who lives with Toby.

[ Marnie's from another country? Another century?? And London doesn't have magic, not Basil's London. This. This is just an incredibly weird coincidence, right. There are plenty of people with that surname, after all. With that surname who have precisely one friend and a superficial but alarmingly suspicious connection to himself.

His London was the one place with no magic and logic actually mattered? Don't take that away?? ...Welp, too late.

Now your argument is none of this is "real". However do you pick and choose between "real" and "not real"? Does it bear any relation to your own personal preferences? [ Look if you're going to ruin his day he fully intends to return the favor young lady. ]

[...

you know what she's fucking done with this goddamn rat-racist jerk coming into her life and judging her despite the fact that she is perfect and has done nothing wrong ever, so like the utterly mature child she is, she crosses her arms, screws up her face, and says the following words with way more venom than anyone else has ever in history:]

Sherlock Holmes is a character. In a book. He's not real.

[personal profile] not_over_yet 2018-06-06 04:37 am (UTC)(link)
[ Don't worry, small child, Basil is perfectly capable of matching that venom with sickening sweetness.

He is a mature adult.
]

Sherlock Holmes is a human being who lives adjacent to my former flat.

You are a deluded child who has been left to play make-believe a little too long. Magic isn't real, my dear.
hallotween: (but I know they'll never own me)

[personal profile] hallotween 2018-06-06 04:49 am (UTC)(link)
Magic is real; I could do some magic right now! Can you prove you're real?
not_over_yet: (probably wants something)

[personal profile] not_over_yet 2018-06-06 05:04 am (UTC)(link)
Can you prove your imaginary friend exists? "Madam Mim", was it? [ (you liked her, right) ] Such an imagination. Such a lonely little girl.
hallotween: (with the wicked games)

[personal profile] hallotween 2018-06-06 05:08 am (UTC)(link)
You mean my literal great-aunt. [somewhere in the universe merlin fucking dies]

Listen, you don't want me to start naming plot points from the books. Because I will do it, and you will doubt reality, and I will not be sorry. This is your first and final warning, Baker Street.
not_over_yet: (of course everything's fine)

[personal profile] not_over_yet 2018-06-06 05:25 am (UTC)(link)
And which reality are we discussing now?

[ The accompanying smile is far too toothy to pass for indulgent, but he has the voice down. ]

The one where you could see "Basil of Baker Street" printed plainly on the wall for all to see? The one where a rat could have told you anything and everything about the London we were both from? The one where I'm practically flatmates with a ~fictional character~? The one where you actually have a family?
hallotween: (when I look over my shoulder)

[personal profile] hallotween 2018-06-06 05:33 am (UTC)(link)
Ratigan barely told me anything about himself. I didn't even realize until I actually met you.

How about we discuss... No, wouldn't be the same name, probably, since yours is different... Let's talk about your friend! You know, the surgeon. It's gotta be pretty rough for a mouse, traveling all the way to Afghanistan... What war are you guys even fighting over there?

"Realize" what? [ Now that's just being cryptic. ] You lot asked for me.

[ ...He'd only met Dawson two days before Ratigan died. ]

It's simply a contentious region--latest was... about maps or something, irrelevant to my work. [ A dismissive gesture.

There's several ways she could have guessed about the location--whatever version of earth she's from might even follow a similar line of history. ...Ratigan could have guessed a few details about the doctor from their very brief interaction. Uncharacteristic, yes, but not impossible. Highly unlikely.

[personal profile] not_over_yet 2018-06-06 06:34 am (UTC)(link)
[ Basil's perfectly aware that people can have alternates in other worlds and even doubles in their own--there are at minimum two Dr. Faciliers somewhere in reality, and Allene sure did present having a clone as mildly unusual but mundane enough. This situation doesn't quite fit that pattern though. ]

[ Nngh. FINE fishing expedition on hold for now--he'll find the chink in your armor eventually, you horrible child, make no mistake there--but he can't quite figure out what button you're even aiming for and unfortunately the angle is too interesting to just ignore. ]

This point you want to drive home--it won't hurt if it merely comes across as gibberish, you realize. What are you trying to say here?

Only that you're not the only smartass in town, and if you try to make fun of me or insult me, I'm gonna do it right back. [that's just how it is in this bitch of a park] I'll bring up your landlady next time.
not_over_yet: (oh my god you're serious)

[personal profile] not_over_yet 2018-06-13 03:21 am (UTC)(link)
...My landlady.

[ Looks like he'll be pestering the city's librarians about this "Holmes in a book" business then. ]

You've very bad at this. Have you considered a tutor? I hear Plankton's otherwise unoccupied these days.
