EVENT LOG PT. 1: Dueling Festivals

Who: Everyone!
What: EPCOT's Dream Festival and Plankton's Plankton Festival.
Where: EPCOT!
When: May 18th to May 25th.
Warnings: Plankton.

DREAM FESTIVAL
DI.

(Imageworks.)

The Dream Festival is held at EPCOT's Imagination Pavilion, largely held upstairs. The downstairs area is is dedicated to the ride itself - a ten-minute look at the wonder and joy of Imagineering, while the theater next door is some sort of documentary about a figure named Captain EO. But the real excitement upstairs, is in the newly revamped Imageworks Pavillion - The Junior
Imagination Station.

Billed as an escape to worlds that were, that could be, and those of fantasy and reality, the Imageworks is designed to get people interested in Imagineering, and as such, is filled with exhibits designed to boggle the mind. This includes the Rainbow Corridor, a tunnel featuring colored lights that assigns each guest a color that follows them as they move through it, among other things. A giant wall-mounted coloring book that gets filled in with electric "paintbrush guns", a series of floor panels that can be stepped on and make sounds, a giant pin screen, you name it.

DII.

(Dreamscape Room.)

One of the more ambitious new add-ons to the pavilion is the Dreamscape Room, a room that is set up to configure to one specific person's desire. Whoever's in control of the Dreamscape Room at the moment (each visitor has a time of five minutes within the Dreamscape Room before it's passed on to the next person)
is able to shape and form a new world within the room, one that will disappear as soon as they leave. This is displayed in photorealistic light and sound, allowing for you to bring anything from your imagination right in front of you.

How will you use your time? Bringing to life a new creation, or perhaps showcasing your home world to others? Living out an old fantasy - a memory? You have a small amount of time here, and you should make the best of it.

DIII.

(With apologies to Cosmographia.)

Just outside of the Imagination Pavillion is a garden - series of colorful flowers and a Figment topiary. It's not explicitly advertised as being part of the exhibit, but there are a rainbow of flowers here, and they seem to be just as much a part of the festival as anything else. For, you see, picking a flower will make you feel a certain emotion for up to an hour, or until another flower is picked. This will depend on the color of the flower chosen. Below is a list of all the different ones!

PLANKTON FESTIVAL
PI.

(Trashfire.)

Meanwhile, directly across from the Imageworks Pavillion, this shit is happening I guess?

The primary attraction of the Plankton Festival is a statue of Plankton made out of what appears to be popsicle sticks. Surrounding this is a foodcart selling lukewarm chum on a stick, terrible yellow balloons that feature a cartoon eye (+the above horrifying balloon animals, a stall selling Chum Bucket Bucket Helmets, and a throne set up for Plankton himself. Much like Santa Claus, you can get a picture of him sitting in a throne with you either standing incredibly far away from him or being directly on top of him.

There's also literally a garbage can that's on fire. This is considered the highlight of the festival by many.

PII.

(Ballpit.)

At some point, it is decided that the festival needs a new attraction. So, they bring it in:

( DII. )EVIEFEST 2K18.
( so, okay. evie's maybe not taken very kindly to the results of the election — so typical of an incompetent guy who doesn't even know what the job entails to win the post over a woman with a brain, a woman with experience. the fact that count olaf didn't win is only a small consolation; the princess thinks that, despite all of her own huffing and puffing over it, she would've even preferred belle as mayor. at least this dreamfinder character seems interesting, as does his invitation.

she wears sunglasses to the dream festival, much like she has since the election; whether it's to hide her judgment, hide any tears, or to give her the look of a badass woman scorned is anybody's guess. regardless, evie finds herself drawn to the dreamscape room, and once it's her turn to step inside ...

the room shifts and reshapes itself to look — well, exactly the same as the exterior of the imageworks pavilion does normally. except located directly across from it stands evie, in a stunning dress and a sparkling tiara, welcoming guests to an entirely different festival. there are gourmet candy apples to be eaten in any type of flavor imaginable, there are stands selling rare, limited edition pieces from evie's 4 hearts fashion collection, music and dancing and — of course, there's meet and greets with the princess mayor herself, eager to meet each and every citizen of progress city, new and old.

welcome to eviefest. the door of the dreamscape room is left open for curious passersbys — stop by for a minute or five? )
( DIII. ) LIKE MOTHER LIKE ... DAUGHTER?
( teen angst is real, even in the kindest of princesses. it's why, later in the day, as she finds herself gazing at the flowers and topiaries and notices people picking them here and there as souvenirs, she can't help but be drawn to the black roses framing parts of the display. black like her hopes and dreams, black like the drab sky at night on the isle, blah blah blah.

within moments, she feels different. rage bubbles up inside of her, and her fair face practically flushes with it. this whole place is absurd, asking people to run for mayor who haven't even been in the city long enough to know anything about it! there's no such thing as background checks, the debate was a joke, and honestly, she really kind of misses her mom and this place is keeping her trapped here away from her home and her friends and it's enough to make her want to —

huff angrily, in spectacular teenage girl fashion, and absolutely chuck the apple she'd been stashing in her bag for a snack at the head of a nearby citizen, practically screaming with rage: )
Don't look at me like that!

( so maybe it's not a poisoned apple, but it'll do, especially when evie's feeling murderous. )

Eviefest? This is a lot better than whatever garbage Sheldon thought up.

Isn't it just? ( comes evie's response, dreamy and accompanied with a smile that isn't the least crazed. nope. ) I'm Evie — it's so good to meet you.

Oh, there she is. The orphan is at it again.

[Count Olaf is absolutely wine-drunk, and watches the display in amusement. Give into your anger, Evie. Let it flow through you.]

Taking out your aggressive lack-of-parents on others. Wow.
evilette: ( footlights | DNT ) (♕ but i've got so much wickedness & sin)

( oh great.

great.

it's this fucking guy. you know, her least favorite person in this entire city, with whom she is stuck practically method-acting against daily in the beauty and the beast show at hollywood studios with how much she detests ever fiber of his creepy, unnerving being.

there's a loud groan of disgust and frustration as she wheels around to face him, fingers already curled into fists at her sides. )

I have parents, old man. I have my mother, The Evil Queen, and— and — my dad. ( yep, she definitely doesn't know a single thing about her father. ) If I had another apple, I'd throw it right at your stupid face!

Oh, please go get one! I’d love to see your horrible aim.

[He lets out something akin to a laugh, but much more...ugly and obviously vile in intent. A chortle? A cackle?]

After all, I’m sure that all your royal blood gets in the way of your throwing arm.

Can you be nostalgic for something that never even happened? 'Cause this clearly shows the benevolent reign of Mayor Evie would've been a heck of a lot better than...

[pauses, examining a candy apple. can you eat things that aren't real. is this like the food in the underworld all over again.]

... Well, you know. Everything Plankton is.

[personal profile] evilette 2018-05-26 01:06 am (UTC)(link)
( better eat it and find out, freddie. just don't blame evie when your sugar rush vanishes upon leaving the dreamscape room.

in the meantime, evie savors this festival while she can, sighing wistfully. also maybe holding a single finger out to freddie's lips and just. shushing her. )

Shhh. No. I don't want to think about that little sea urchin. Just soak all of this in.
faciliheir: (shadow takes all)

[personal profile] faciliheir 2018-05-26 01:24 am (UTC)(link)
I'm soaking, I'm soaking. [fuck it she's gonna eat this. maybe the cavities will be imagination too.]

I see you're adjusting pretty good to all the weirdness this place offers. It can be... a lot. [says the girl who's been sleeping under a park bench for like a week.] But, hey, if you can make it in Auradon, you can pretty much make it anywhere, right?
evilette: ( footlights | DNT ) (♕ made me the way that i am)

[personal profile] evilette 2018-05-26 01:29 am (UTC)(link)
I get it. It's funny because you're dating a mermaid.

( or not. )

But I guess you're right. This whole election thing's kinda got me down a little bit 'cause I thought ... you know, maybe some people here know how to use their brains. ( or not, x2. ) At least I've got these five minutes of what-might-have-been — and you.
faciliheir: (three clicks in the chamber)

[personal profile] faciliheir 2018-05-26 01:32 am (UTC)(link)
Aw! That gets me right here. Right where a heart oughta be. [taps chest] I'm sure there'll be regime change sooner rather than later. Even if someone even half-good would've gotten the job, everybody here is completely insane. Somebody'll get bored and try to burn down the mayor's office or something.

[casually breezes past any mention of Ariel like a total pro]

[Really, it's a case of being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Very wrong indeed. Belle just happens to be passing by, admiring all the lovely flowers, the sights and sounds and sweet scents of the Dream Festival, when she finds herself being nailed in the skull with...an apple? She yelps, turning blindly toward the source of the projectile, and claps a hand to the back of her head, where she can already feel a tender spot forming.]

I—I wasn't looking at you at all!
evilette: ( footlights | DNT ) (♕ ladies tell 'em)

[personal profile] evilette 2018-05-26 01:10 am (UTC)(link)
You.

( it's a sharp realization as evie finally looks up to see who she ended up hitting with her angrily flung apple and — rather than any softness returning to her features, an apology slipping hastily past her glossed lips — her brow furrows further, her gaze narrowing, sharp as she takes slow, purposeful steps towards belle. )

This is all your fault. All of this happened because of you.

[Belle has to stop herself from backing up with every step Evie takes toward her; she blinks several times, as if trying to confirm that she's hearing this right.]

What do you mean, I haven't done anything!

[ Basil's curious about the dreamscape room, buuuut not quite in the mood for exploring his own mind at the moment... and she did leave the door open.

So he slips inside, takes a quick glance around... hm, impressive thing this Dreamfinder fellow put together. And Evie's version of Mayorfest is certainly an improvement on the one currently inflicted on them--better aesthetics, host far more palatable.

...Notably still a mayorfest.

Though on that note, he hasn't met Evie just yet, not properly. This seems a good enough time as any to fix that.
]

I must say, I do appreciate the lack of balloon--[ (what are those green horrors, not 'animals' surely...) ]--monstrosities.
