Plankfest 2018
Who: Plankton and you
What: Announcing his first official event as mayor
Where: Transport Center
When: 5/16
[Good morning, guess who's back at it again with the annoying distribution of fliers? They're all over the ground and taped on every apartment door. And it's actually really, really easy to guess who they're from, given the text printed on them in bold font.]
PLANKFEST (PLANKTON FESTIVAL) 2018
-NEARLY-FREE FOOD
-FREE (+ sales tax) HATS
-FREE (+ small fee) PICTURES WITH THE MAYOR, WHOM WE ARE CELEBRATING
ATTENDANCE IS BASICALLY MANDATORY
(DETAILS @ THE TRANSPORT CENTER)
[So. There's that.
At the Transport Center, the mayor in question has his feet kicked up on a table that's piled high with several more stacks of the fliers. It's probably clear from his expression when he spots whoever approaches that, actually, he didn't really plan on anybody wanting further details. He just kind of wanted the opportunity to brag about his fliers in-person.]
Did you not get a flier? I told Richard to go distribute them. Here. Look.
[He just. Shoves a whole handful of them off the table and onto the ground before leaning back in his chair with a decidedly smug expression.]
I know, I know. A stroke of genius, isn't it? I bet Rod never held a Rod Festival or anything. It's inspired.

I'm nearly excited.

Huh, come to think of it, I've been meaning to find a new hat.
no subject
You're not seriously going to go are you?
no subject
And, maybe it'll be... [She lets out a snort, followed by a burst of laughter.] Nah, there's no way this will be fun.
no subject
[Sighs.]
All the more reason to catch up on solitary confinement hours.
no subject
[At least this probably won't have Hades?]
No way, after what I went through, no way I'm staying inside any one place forever. There's gotta be more around here to do.
no subject
Meanwhile I'll fight the system and protest against the mandatory showing and nap instead.

[No one left behind!]

[Whether or not it was being overwhelmed and unsettled about the whole thing as of let, Daria just wasn’t sure how going on and seeing any of it was going to be any good. Or safe. She shook her head. It was probably the first time there was any mild disagreement with anyone she accustomed to hang around here.]
I’m not sure how much more of our lovely mayor’s hijinks I can stand if I’m in direct vicinity of him.
no subject
[Wasn't expecting to get a straight 'no' from Daria, it surprises Wendy a little. However strange a spectacle Wendy wanted to witness, she wouldn't pull her friend along just for the sake of showing her too. If she didn't want to do, then...]
How about we find something else to do? Something with zero planktons involved.
no subject
[She made a frown. As much of a fuss SHE made about her point, she didn’t feel right dominating Wendy’s.]
I just like to read and catch up on my writing. I haven’t hardly done any of that since coming here.
no subject
[Since she arrived here, she'd much rather be around her friends and know they're safe. But now she's making Daria frown, and that's just not right.]
But if you really don't want to, I guess I can ask Star or Belle if they want to go see the other festival.
no subject
Thought she looked at Wendy again.]
Other festival?
no subject
Finally hearing Daria ask that question draws a big smile onto Wendy's face. She reaches behind her back, pulling a sheet of paper from one of her jean pockets, a flier with the words-
The "Dream Festival". There's this guy called the Dreamfinder putting up all these posters wherever Plankton puts his up. It looks a hell of a lot better than the other one.
[But don't take her word for it, see for yourself, Daria. She offers her the poster.]
no subject
She took a look at the poster, taking it in her tiny hands.
Huh. At the same time. Posters at the same place, huh? Dreams meant inspiration, and Wendy seemed like she was really aiming to go to this one at the very least.
Someone may have felt a little bad for turning someone down kinda harshly, when it was a friendly friend outing that was offered.]
Sounds like someone is even pettier than I am.
no subject
[She can roll with that. She's a teenager.]
Plus, I really want to check out what being an "imagineer" is all about. Designing theme park rides sounds like the coolest job.
no subject
[That would when she would roll the poster up and stick it in her jacket pocket.
Wendy...had been really kind to her. So. Hm.]
Aw, what the hell. Sounds like if I want to be a petty rebel, going to competition seems better than calling out.
no subject
So this just elates her.]
Nice! Welcome to the petty rebellion. It's like the third one I've been in, so it's pretty cool.
