tarot cards may show the way

Who: Freddie, her anxiety, and YOU
What: runaway corpse bride
Where: outside vista way/joffrey's
When: night/day after election

A. Vista Way

[it’s late at night-- or early in the morning, depending on how you see it. the window to the apartment Freddie shares with Ariel and Basil opens, and… a rope made from bedsheets is tossed from the window, and a figure starts to descend.

it’s been quite a while since she’s done this, which is why she underestimates the amount of length needed to safely reach the ground, and how to position it properly so her weight doesn’t snap the rope. which it does, while she is still quite a ways away from the ground, which she hits with an undignified thump.

at least it wasn’t too high of a fall, so all Freddie has is a bruised hip and a bruised dignity.]

B. Joffrey's Coffee Shop

[Freddie is sitting at a table in the coffee shop, sitting crossed legged on a chair as she shuffles the deck of cards she’s holding. a small purple gem sits on the other end of the table, and an iced latte with a visible layer of sugar on the bottom sits at her side. slowly and with great purpose, she places three cards in front of her.

ace of swords, reversed. four of pentacles, upright. two of swords.

she grimaces and shuffles again, placing another three cards.

nine of swords. the world, reversed. two of swords.

shuffling, harder. three more cards.

temperance, reversed. the hanged man. two of swords.

she makes a loud, frustrated noise and grabs the two of swords, violently tearing it up into a pile of confetti. struggling to control herself, she shuffles the deck again and again before taking another card…

two of swords.

she throws the entire deck in front of her and puts her head into her hands. She glares… at the gem.]
I don’t need this right now! [she wanted answers. but she doesn’t like what she’s been given.]

[Daria hadn't slept too well either. Anxiety dreams kind of did that. Maybe she had a nightmare about Mayor Plankton actually turning this place into a dictatorship and taking any person who liked to read and putting them on the guillotine. With Count Olaf laughing over it.

Yes. Very horrible dreams.

Bad enough dreams that she went right out from getting a glass of water to making some cocoa. Cocoa with her thoughts. Because screw it. With whatever money she scrounged up, she got herself some pretty okay-ish hot cocoa. Just need to boil some water and-

Plunk.

A fall from outside got her to jump.

Her room was on the ground floor, and could see that it was the girl who was at Ariel's meatball party; and whom she met on the first day. Probably...not a threat.

She poked her head out of her now opened window, straggly hair and in her sleep clothes.]

Do I need to call a medic?

So nothing broken.

[Sorry mate, she didnt buy it. Daria looked tight on over st the woman, deciding it was best to be vocal about this.]

It’s also 3AM.

[...Right.]

Nah, I admit. I'm more of the type who'd rather brew a cup of cocoa and calm down. Especially if I ever happened to be hysterical when something was bothering me.

[GIVE UP THE GHOST.]

[...

Part of her thought she should just leave this alone and go back to bed. It wasn't any of her business. Just make her cocoa and just go back to bed.

Instead now she wasn't the least bit tired. Her conscious was also nagging at her. Damn her conscious. Suddenly the thought of something bad happening came up and for Daria to be a possible last man didn't sit right. She knew she was still here, as noticed by her suddenly halting and lack of noise.

Carefully but semi-quickly, she poured her finished cocoa in two mugs and headed outside. Daria turned the corner to still see Freddie there. She had nothing else to say but hold out the spare mug.]

Look. It's hot.

Don't mention it.

[She still stood around, as she took her time sipping her own cup. Now she was being a little idle. Letting her calm down before getting to the bottom of this. As she should.]

Careful, it's truly hot.

[.....Wow.

Anyway, she had to figure this out right now. She had Fedddie here for just a moment and while she didn’t want to put her up in trial, she did want to know what the heck was going on. If she were to keep going on this conscious trip.]

So what made you want to hop out of the window to go for a walk? I know the election had everyone out of sorts.

[She got it. As someone who was as antisocial and not approachable as she could be, she would be a hypocrite to force her to talk when Freddie wanted to be alone. Despite Daria's actually sincere desire to help, she knew she had to respect that.

If anything happened, then Daria would say she respected a girl's privacy. She took a slow sip of her cocoa.]

I get it. Alone time, just you and your brain.

[Sip.]

I guess I can let the escapades slide. We didn't see each other.

Don't bother returning the mug. Just throw it out when you're done.

[Sip. She heard you loud and clear. It was just easier to shrug it off and act like it wasn't a big deal on her part. It really wasn't. It felt like the right thing to do.]

Seriously, it was free from Pizza Planet.
