A: Working Hard

[As far as restaurants went in the Hollywood studios area, you could definitely do worse than Pizza Planet. The space-themed restaurant managed to stand out from its surroundings, and also fit in entirely with the style of the park itself. Large robotic-looking animatronics guard the front doors, giving way as you enter into a world of arcades and good that is Actually Not Bad. Not to mention varied, beyond just pizza. Wendy's opinion was firm, there were definitely worse places to work.

Of course, Wendy wasn't alone in this. Thankfully, she had Daria. Between the two of them working the registers, it's a wonder that everyone's getting their orders so quickly. But they're here anyway, ready to take your order! Or not. At least they're supposed to.]

B: Hardly Working

[Break time! Music to Wendy's ears. Is is actually break time? Maybe. What are you gonna say about it? As far as right now goes, there's just enough time for her to shrug off responsibilities and go check out the plethora of arcade machines in here.

From space-themed cabinets, to space-themed crane machines, to even the stranger things, like... whatever this is referencing. Either way, Wendy's currently owning at it, smacking down every alien head that pops out of the body with the practiced finesse of someone that's really good at hitting things.

And if she runs out of time, well, the storage compartment for the coin slot sure is wide open right now.]

[Whatever adventures happened through the day, it was time for the best part. Closing time. For as diligent as a worker Daria was, she learned she...didn't have as much to do as she did working as the librarian of a big historical building. Not too surprising really. Different kinds of jobs, different kinds of clientele and customer service. But it wasn't safe from her aggravation, ugh. Most of the time when they were slow in particular, was spent reading by the counter as she waited for a customer she had to pay attention to.

She kept to herself, and to her duties so she could waddle back to her apartment to do the same. Surviving. Right. It was what she had to do last time. She half expected for her friends to be around outside as she clocked out but, well, they weren't here. Obviously.

That was a pretty big bummer, but she didn't want to let it get her down like last time. Still though.

-Right, going home. She packed her station and found Wendy by the arcade machines.]

Hey, you coming? It's closing time. Time to go to our temporary home.

One sec...

[It had been another long, and frankly exciting, day working at the restaurant. And, like always, Wendy was happy to see it end.

She finishes up her last game, diligently attempting the highscore on the Whack-a-alien for the eighth time today. Sometimes it might feel like she took more time to focus on her games than her work, but she kept up at a reasonable pace with Daria. Like the other times, she manages to make her way near the top, but just can' quite reach it. The machine mocks her with it's chiptune alien sounds.]

Yeah, yeah you're lucky I can get my coins back.

[which she does, moving to grab her money and re-attach the coin storage plate; one of the small perks of working here, besides the food. For a job she hadn't actually applied for, or wanted at first, it was... pretty sweet.]

You all ready to go?

Yes. Good. Murder them.

[Backslide is just stacking straws into what will eventually become a huge tower but is currently more of a small cabin.]

[Star picks up the Whack-A-Alien mallet and scoffs.]

How is this thing supposed to be any use? You can only hit one of them at a time!

[She drops it and summons her giant morning star.] Now THIS is more like it!

[Daria was by the counter, her usual spot when she saw this. As much as she would rather not get involved in stupid situations, that was just. Uh. No.

It was that small child AGAIN. Dear GOD. Suddenly, there was a voice behind her. Please don't destroy this place.]

Only if you approve of genocide.

Yep.

[Oh, she was watching that go on in the various times of the day. She watched it enough to start asking curious questions. Daria tilted her head as she looked at the machine.]

I guess the perks of this place include not letting the aliens take your money. You've been trying at that high score a lot.

Workin' on it!

[Really, just watch her go- awww, it's over. The high score continues to elude her grasp.]

This isn't over, you- Whoa. [She was already digging into her uniform for a coin, when she actually notices who was talking to her. And what he's doing.]

Dude, what is that?

Whoa, whoa, whoa.

[JUST UH..... GONNA put a hand on that morning star.]

Hang on, Star. Can't go smashing up this place.

Murder! An endless goal in the ENDLESS FIELD OF LIFE!

[He blinks and looks back at his straw creation.]

Its a little cabin. Soon it will be demolished by eAGER SETTLERS!

Ugh, I know, I've been doing this a lot, but this is becoming a thing now. Every time I try it, I can only get just short of the high score!

[Curse you... whatever your name is.]

Yeaaa-Ohhh, wait, no. That's kinda weird.

[And you're saying "murder" a lot. It's a little troubling.]

So, who are the settlers?

Is it WEIRD to REPEATEDLY SMASH a DUMMY and expect it to LIVE? [Cause that ain't him causing the dummy pain

His expression shifts from over-the-top to thoughtful as he considers the question carefully, twirling his cigarette holder. He's not smoking inside (yet) because he hasn't put in the tobacco but but he's puffing on it all the same out of habit.]

Depends. What do you thinks funniest?

...Dude, it's not like I'm smacking a real alien. It's just a game, y'know? [She wouldn't never hit an alien that didn't deserve it. And the astronaut with all the aliens bursting out of his chest doesn't seem to mind much, so it's probably cool.

Wendy will belatedly remember that there's probably some rule in here that prohibits smoking, but that won't be right now.]

Funniest would be... I dunno, bears, maybe.

LIFE is a GAME. BE ALIEN RACIST AND KILL HIM.

[He paces around the cabin of straws, nodding slowly.]

Yeah that'll work.

[And then he kicks it, sending drink tubes and emergency induction ports and other novel names for novel novelty straws toppling to the ground.]

WHOOPS LOOKS LIKE GOLDILOCKS COULDN'T PAY RENT! SHE'S LOST HER HOUSE!!

[Eventually, Belle's explorations of the city and the different parks leads her to Hollywood Studios. After working the morning shift at the book store, and still dressed in her uniform, she finds herself wandering into Pizza Planet and stopping, stock-still, in the middle of the arcade section, looking all around her in wonderment.]

I...I'm not sure what I expected of this place, but it wasn't this!

They're eating that dude from the inside out! They started it!

I'm just gonna smash all these aliens at once!

[It's contained destruction, you see.]

Oh, hey!

[Considering her attire, it's a wonder that someone hadn't noticed Belle sooner. Wendy's given up on her quest to obtain a good score, at least for the time being, and wanders over to this. Belle gets a smile and a little wave.]

First time in Pizza Planet? Yeah, it's pretty wild. But it's not the worst place in the multiverse to work.

As awesome as that'd be, I... really don't want to get fired, actually?

[Giant morning stars destroying anything in here is probably grounds for some kind of punishment.]

Hey, come on. Some of my favorite people are aliens.

[She watches him knock it all down... and lets out a slow sigh.]

And I just realized that I probably have to clean that up.

MAYBE THEY SHOULDN'T BE SO BAD AT BASKETBALL THEN!

[Suddenly Dan Backslide, wearing a bear mask, is right next to her.]

Don't worry girlie! Me and my Bear Business Partners are gonna rebuild this whole area! Not that kind of bear partners, mind you, but keep in mind, THINGS GET FREAKY AFTER HOURS!

Once Bear and Branch get ahold of this property from that old sad sack Goldilocks, this mess will be a thing of the past! We'll have towers and shopping malls of all kinds for all your bear business needs! ALL OF THEM! EVERY SINGLE NEED!

Ah, so the Grand Straw Shortage Mystery's solved.

I'd believe that story if the aliens were real and yet...

[Sigh, even she didn't have the energy to keep that up.]

Look, what I mean is, "please don't smash up the machine".

For once, I would actually agree with a sentiment like that.

[A somewhat friendly air of sarcasm toward Wendy came from the counter by another woman who was reading a novel. She looked up and actually noticed it was Person She Found Out Was Pretty Cool #2. It caused her to put her book down and actually want to get in on the conversation. Both of them were here, so...hey, it was nice and she would be dumb to not take advantage of it, right?]

Oh, hey, Belle. Nice of you to join our twisted space colony we have going on around here.

That so.

[...Oh what the hell. Without so much of a word, she threw in some change into the machine on a whim. She's not actually losing out on money doing it, right?]

So, I'll test a theory. Let's see if my monthly arcade budget actually came in handy. Or if it's that cheap.
